Sustainable Christmas gift - Forebel socks

A mission that goes beyond making modern, sustainable socks

Forebel is a company from the Netherlands that produces socks made from ecologically responsible materials and reused waste.

In our store we focus on two Forebel collections, one in partnership with the Healthy Seas Foundation, which uses nets collected from the oceans to make the socks, and the other in partnership with North Sea Farmers, an organization dedicated to developing seaweed as a sustainable resource.

Healthy Seas Foundation

The Healthy Seas Foundation, co-founded by Star Sock, Forebel's parent company, is a non-profit organization resulting from the collaboration of three companies: Ghost Diving, Aquafil and Star Sock.

Forebel combines this regenerated nylon from fishing nets lost in the ocean with 100% organic GOTS cotton to make the socks in this collection, with part of the profits going to the Healthy Seas Foundation.

Since 2013, the foundation has collected 510,000 kilos of fishing nets, contributing to the preservation of the oceans.

SEACELL

Seaweed is an incredible plant that grows in our oceans without the need for fresh water, soil or fertilizers. As well as being delicious, nutritious and a sustainable alternative to fertilizers, they are also a substitute for fossil plastics.

This collection of socks uses SEACELL, a material made partly from seaweed, rich in minerals, antioxidants and vitamins, offering benefits for the skin and the environment.

Part of the profits are donated to farmers in the North Sea who grow seaweed sustainably.

In addition, Forebel encourages the use of different socks to reduce waste when a sock is damaged or lost. The packs of 3 socks sold by Forebel promote this habit. Who says socks have to be identical?
